IS THIS A GOOD LOOK FOR THE ROOTS? THEIR FIRST PERFORMANCE AS THE HOUSE BAND FOR THE NEW JIMMY FALLON LATE NIGHT SHOW

When I first got word that The Roots, one of hip hops most killa bands hands down, was gonna be former SNL cast member Jimmy Fallon’s new house band for “The Tonight Show” I was like “What the fuck?!!” But then I thought about it and realized that they made a very smart move, not only is it smart, it’s evolutionary for late night TV and for classic artists in the game who may not be selling out arenas but they’ve built a cult-like following and will forever be selling out clubs in damn near every city across the country and many abroad.
The Roots are one of the few groups in the game that can make some decent paper staying on the road about 274 days out of the year. But at some point that can take a toll on any artist. So I would say it’s safe to assume that this was a good deal for them, The Roots will probably never reach that multi-platinum level so they had to make a decision to either stay away from their families for most of the year until they could no longer earn enough guap to support their lifestyles on the road or else they can be the house band for The Tonight Show, expose themselves to a much broader audience 5 nights out the week, still make their rounds and gig on the weekends, and be in a stable situation by being docked in one city and spending quality time with their kids and sleeping on one specific time schedule consistently. In my opinion this is definitely a good look for The Roots. Y’all check out the clip of the first episode and see how y’all feel about it.
